Hole In One Check Presentation

Hole #5 on 1/26/2020.
Trust me, Donnie showed much more excitement when he got the HIO than he did when he received the check.

Be sure you get your $5 to W J before the next time you play to be eligible. Let’s get that pot built up!! You never know when your next one will be.

2020 Annual Meeting Notes

We held our Annual Meeting last night with 35 in attendance. Prior to the meeting we all enjoyed a nice meal that was catered by The SteakHouse. For the sake of those that were not able to attend, I have listed bullet points of the items we discussed. If you should wish more details, please contact myself or WJ and we will gladly share.

  • 2019 Year in Review (Hosted our Annual Four Ball tournament, Fall Trip to Jekyll Island) Membership in 2019 was at 78 golfers.
  • Year end Financial Report. With the sale of ads on the tee markers over the last 2 years our revenues have increased. For the first time in about 3 years, we also broke even on what we spent on the Fall Trip vs what we collected in the “Party Fund”.
  • Motioned passed that if at least 50% of the players finish the round, anyone that leaves early still pays the $15 but forfeits the right to any winnings (including skins). The current “inclement weather” policy was not modified. This ruling was to deal with players who choose not to finish for reasons other than emergencies or official rain-outs.
  • BOD was given permission to pursue some type of memorial to be place on or near hole #5 for Bob Lamar and R C Coleman (both charter members).
  • BOD was requested to work with golf course management to estimate the cost of putting mats (maybe 10-12) on the driving for use when conditions deem it in the best interest to protect the range. The BOD will present options via survey before making any commitments to assist in the cost of this project.
  • It was approved that the cost for the organizer of the Fall Trip be paid out of the MGA funds. (Anyone wishing to volunteer to take on this task is encouraged to contact the BOD).
  • A short presentation was shown for the major changes to the handicapping system used by USGA (World Golf Handicapping System). If you have any questions as to how this works, let me know or you can find plenty of resources on the web.
  • Previously we required the team captain to post your scores each time you play. Going forward we are not requiring this and it therefore becomes YOUR responsibility to ensure you score is posted accurately. The main reason for this is the new max score rule of Net Double Bogey. For MGA purposes we will still only record max gross double bogey. If you think you should have higher scores, you will need to keep track of your score so you can post it later. For anyone that has smart phone, there is a GHIN app that makes this easy. With the new program you can post just total score, or hole by hole scores, or hole by hole with stats. It is up to you how much detail you wish to enter.
  • Those in attendance agreed that we should continue the requirement that anyone who wishes to play in our matches and/or other events must maintain a USGA handicap.
